President's Award for Commitment to Law and Civic Education
This annual award is given to an Outstanding Louisiana Elementary, Middle or High School teacher who imparts knowledge and understanding of Law and Civic Education and demonstrates the use of interactive learning techniques that make a difference in student learning. Award presentation is a joint partnership of the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
The recipient will be honored at the Louisiana State Bar Association's reception to be held during the Mid Year Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The winner will be provided a plaque and a monetary award in recognition of their commitment to law and civic education.
Civics in Action Award (CIA)
This new award will be awarded to the Louisiana Middle or High School Student who exemplifies what it means to be an engaged citizen in their school, home and/or community. The applicant must be committed to making a difference through the use of government, or their school environment . For example helping to get a bill passed in the Louisiana Legislature to pursuing positive change in his/her school through the school governmental process. The CIA award will be given at the Annual Meeting of the Louisiana State Bar Association.
The winner will receive a plaque and a complimentary one night stay at San Destin Beach Resort on the evening prior to the award presentation during the Annual Meeting of the Louisiana State Bar Association to be held in June, 2008.
