Back-to-Back Professional Development Programs

This year's professional development program is a four day teachers' workshop held in the New Orleans French Quarter. The program will begin with Order in the Court where participants will be given an in depth understanding of the federal and state court systems. It will be taught by a distinguished panel of Louisiana judges.
The second half of the program will focus on the nationally acclaimed civics curriculum, We the People. Both programs will include expert pedagogy sessions on how to utilize the program information in the classroom.
- Free "We the People" textbooks and a teacher's guide
- Expert pedagogy sessions on how to use Order in the Court and We the People in the classroom
- Out of town participants will be housed, free of charge, at the Iberville Suites in the historic French Quarter
- No program fees and
- All materials provided at no cost to teachers

Do you know a student who has made a difference or an improvement of the quality of life in their school, home, or community through the use of civic engagement? The LCLCE recognizes a Louisiana middle or high school student who exemplifies what it means to be an engaged citizen.
This year's recipient will be honored at the LCLCE Summer Institute on July 20, 2011 at the Louisiana Supreme Court Building in the New Orleans French Quarter.

Law Day is celebrated the first week in May. Teachers, judges and lawyers interested in participating in this year's Law Day program, which brings members of the local legal community into Louisiana classrooms, should contact the LCLCE office today! Teachers requesting a Law Day presentation will be matched up with volunteer lawyers and judges from their community. This is a free service and a great way to honor Law Day.
