Law Signature School

According to the American Bar Association and in cooperation with the U. S. Department of Education, a Law Signature School is defined as a school with a comprehensive program offering multiple elective and non-elective courses at each grade level, in a sequential manner, concentrating on aspects of the law and legal processes for students in grades 9-12. The success of the Law Signature program depends upon the level of support from the community. Most often support entails the participation of members of law enforcement, the court system, bar associations, law schools and colleges.
 
In Louisiana, the LCLCE has assisted school districts with the development of Law Signature programs in Alexandria, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport and West Monroe. The Law Signature Schools that the LCLCE has been instrumental in formulating are: Alexandria Middle Magnet, Caddo Parish Magnet High School, Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning, Northside High School, and West Monroe High School.
